
Travis Frey is the Chief Technology Officer at Pivot Bio, where he leads global research, development, and innovation to advance the company's next-gen crop nutrition solutions, including the company's flagship proprietary microbial nitrogen technology. With more than two decades of experience spanning Fortune 500 companies and emerging startups, Frey is recognized for translating cutting-edge science into real-world agricultural solutions that scale.
Before joining Pivot Bio, Frey served as Chief Technology Officer at Mindful Care and at Calyxt, where he guided groundbreaking work in gene-edited crops and helped lead a successful reverse merger with Cibus. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Monsanto, driving advancements in plant biology, crop improvement, and sustainability.
Frey earned his Ph.D. in Plant Biology and Biotechnology from the University of Delaware and DuPont/Pioneer, a Master's in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a Bachelor's in Horticulture from Penn State University. He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
